Samsung 6500 LED TV Review

This is a review of Samsung's most expensive LED TV for 2011 which is the Samsung UN65D8000. The design is spectacular and if you want your TV to stand out from the crowd, then this is the HDTV for you. The almost non-existent surround makes the appearance stunning and utilizes full 65 inch screen. For best effect it should be hung on the wall and will be the envy of anyone who sees it. For those of you with no wall space is comes with a rather cool chrome set of cross feet, known as a spider stand.

I need to talk about this feature first as it is striking. The thin bezel around the edge of the screen is a show changer and when you see it, you will understand what I mean. Typically this surround edging can be an inch thick, but on this TV it is barely noticeable and the difference is one hundred fold for the sleek appearance. You can also turn off the illumination around the screen where the Samsung logo is placed at bottom and center. Viewed from the side it is about one and a half inches thin and looks great. It also has all the usual settings that you can adjust with the addition of being able to adjust the led back light.

It has the best remote control I have ever seen with QWERTY keyboard on the reverse to allow you to type directly into your TV. It uses Bluetooth technology to communicate with your TV and has its own little screen so as you can see what you are typing. I don't know why I get excited about a remote but I do about this one.

It has a great application store which they call the Smart TV Hub. It also has a nifty browser built in and for a change it can actually be used for surfing. You don't get the full experience of a laptop but it is as good as any Internet interaction that I have seen. It is certain that more applications will become available in the future so a great feature of this TV.

It has Wifi, great for quick connectivity, downloading and streaming. That all does come down to your Broadband speed of course but this HDTV can handle whatever speed you can throw at it. There are also 4 HDMI inputs, a PC input and a component and AV input are available for connectivity. You will need to buy a connectivity breakout cable for the component and AV inputs.

Yes, you will not be surprised to hear it is an LED 3D TV and comes with a "grown up" set of 3D glasses which look real funky.

Picture Quality is great and you would expect this for this top of the range LED TV.

The main benefit of this LED 3D TV is its ability to combine the 3D, Wifi, and Surfing activity all in one place and have it displayed on a 1920 x 1080 picture resolution screen. Everything you do becomes bigger and better.

Great for those who want to impress and super to watch any type of sport on. This TV really brings them to life. Ideal for football, rugby or golf fans. I watched the US Open on this and I may as well have been there, a superb experience.

3D is a young but rapidly growing market. On reading reviews there were a lot of mixed and indifferent comments about the actual merits and 3D viewing experience. You won't get that with this LED TV. The Samsung UN65D8000 LED TV is a joy to watch 3D films on and the user experience is second to none.

If I was being very critical I do notice certain parts of the screen brighter than others.

Finally, before purchasing I did of course read quite a few reviews on the product and all of them commended the built in Wifi capability, the browser experience and the appearance.
